Actor Vidyut Jammwal left the audience stunned at a special Street Fighter promotional event in Mumbai earlier this week, when he sat in meditation on stage and held his breath for about 15 minutes without blinking.

The stunt on stage

Jammwal, who is set to make his Hollywood debut as the iconic yoga master Dhalsim in the upcoming live-action Street Fighter film, meditated on stage alongside cosplayers dressed as the character. He remained completely still in the dhyaan mudra, his eyes open, for around 15 minutes, leaving those in attendance impressed by his discipline and control. A video of the act went viral on social media, with many calling the actor superhuman.

After completing the practice, Jammwal explained that he had used a technique from the Patanjali Yoga Sutras, a classical Sanskrit text on yoga, and added that the practice had helped him achieve several milestones in his life. He said he also teaches the technique to youngsters.

A message for the younger generation

Addressing the audience, Jammwal said he wanted to tell the younger generation to pause for a bit instead of constantly rushing towards their goals. He said that simply stopping and taking a breath, and persisting patiently, is a skill that can take a person very far.

Dhalsim, one of gaming's best-known fighters, draws his powers directly from yoga, meditation and spiritual discipline — a natural fit for Jammwal, who is trained in Kalaripayattu, the ancient Indian martial art.

Film release details

A Paramount Pictures release, Street Fighter will hit theatres across India on October 16, 2026, in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
