Nicolo Tresoldi scored a hat-trick as Club Brugge stunned Inter Milan 4-3 at San Siro on Tuesday night, the headline shock on a Champions League evening that also saw Bayern Munich held 3-3 by Viking Stavanger, Barcelona come from behind to beat Galatasaray 4-1, Atletico Madrid defeat Manchester United 2-0 and Arsenal thrash Lille 3-0.
Brugge sink Inter in seven-goal thriller
Tresoldi had already struck the post before putting Brugge ahead from the penalty spot on the half-hour mark, after Hakan Calhanoglu fouled Carlos Forbs. Lautaro Martinez equalised for Inter before half-time, holding off his marker to finish after Marcus Thuram and Federico Dimarco combined down the left.
Brugge retook the lead when a mix-up between Inter goalkeeper Josep Martinez and his defence let Forbs knock the ball through the keeper's legs, leaving Tresoldi to tap into an empty net. Tresoldi completed his hat-trick in the 74th minute, and although Martinez's second goal seven minutes later revived Inter's hopes, Romeo Vermant made it 4-2 in the 87th minute. Ange-Yoan Bonny's strike deep into added time proved only scant consolation for the home supporters.
Bayern denied in Norway
Gianni Stensness headed Viking ahead from a second-minute corner and the Norwegian hosts doubled their advantage in the 38th minute with a sweeping counter-attack. Harry Kane dragged Bayern back with a 54th-minute penalty, awarded after a lengthy VAR review of Kristoffer Haugen's foul on Konrad Laimer, and headed the visitors level six minutes later. But Michael Olise's dismissal left Bayern exposed, and Herman Johan Haugen struck in added time to earn Viking a point.
Elsewhere
Barcelona overturned a first-half deficit in Istanbul to beat Galatasaray 4-1, with Lamine Yamal supplying two assists. Atletico Madrid beat Manchester United 2-0, with Leny Yoro sent off for the visitors, while Arsenal scored three times in seven minutes to defeat Lille 3-0.
