India captain Shreyas Iyer has broken into the top 10 of the ICC Men's T20I batting rankings for the first time in his international career, climbing 18 places to a career-best seventh after his maiden century in the format.

The knock that changed everything

Iyer smashed an unbeaten 102 off just 43 balls, with 10 fours and six sixes, in India's eight-wicket win over the West Indies in the series opener in Lucknow on Tuesday. It came in his 57th T20I innings, and the 18-place jump was the biggest movement in the latest rankings, which the ICC updates every Tuesday.

India dominates the batting charts

Iyer's rise gives India four batters inside the T20I top 10: Ishan Kishan leads the charts at No. 1, Abhishek Sharma is at No. 2, Iyer sits at No. 7 and Tilak Varma holds No. 10. West Indies batter Sherfane Rutherford, who struck a half-century in the Lucknow game, gained 10 places to 37th.

Rashid Khan back on top

There was also major movement in the T20I bowling rankings. Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan reclaimed the No. 1 spot from Pakistan's Abrar Ahmed — the eighth time he has reached the top. India's Axar Patel climbed 16 places to seventh, while Bangladesh duo Nasum Ahmed and Mahedi Hasan rose to eighth and ninth respectively, making three new entrants inside the top 10.

In the ODI rankings, Shubman Gill extended his lead at the top of the batters' chart, sitting at 841 rating points after his record-breaking unbeaten 223 in India's series-clinching second ODI win over the West Indies in Guwahati.
