SC to Hear Plea Alleging Ram Temple Donation Irregularities Against Champat Rai, Others on November 2

The Supreme Court has agreed to hear on November 2 a plea filed by the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha seeking legal action against former Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust general secretary Champat Rai and others over alleged irregularities linked to donations and land transactions related to the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

The plea alleges that donations collected for the construction of the temple were misappropriated, and that land in areas surrounding the temple was purchased illegally. It also asks the court to order the dissolution and complete reconstitution of the existing trust.

A bench headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant said the petition would be heard along with other pending pleas concerning alleged irregularities in the management of donations received for the temple.

**What the court has — and has not — done**

It is important to note what Thursday's listing order means, and what it does not. The Supreme Court has agreed to hear the plea on November 2; it has not made any finding on the merits of the allegations. Everything about the alleged misuse of donations and land deals comes from the plea itself, and these claims remain unproven.

The coverage of the listing did not report any response from Champat Rai, the other named respondents, or the trust. The plea is being taken up alongside other pending petitions that raise similar questions about the handling of donations meant for the temple.
