Mumbai: Salman Khan revisited his past fallout with Shah Rukh Khan during his appearance on Koffee With Karan Season 9, suggesting that host Karan Johar may have felt nervous around him because of the 2008 rift between the two superstars. Karan, who opened the conversation by admitting that Salman made him stressed, nervous and hyper, laughed at the remark and denied the claim.
The 2008 fallout recalled
When Karan said Salman made him nervous, the actor asked whether it was "because of you or because of somebody else", suggesting there was no reason for such nervousness now since things had been good between them for a long time. Without naming Shah Rukh directly, Salman referred to a time when their equation was not cordial: "At one point of time, it was not good. So, I could have understood that you were scared of me because of not you, because of Shah Rukh."
The exchange referred to the widely reported July 2008 argument between the two actors at Katrina Kaif's birthday party in Mumbai. According to media reports, the disagreement began with remarks about their television shows, Dus Ka Dum and Kya Aap Paanchvi Paas Se Tez Hain?, and escalated after a comment about Salman's alleged former girlfriend Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Karan, who was present at the party, reportedly left with Shah Rukh and his wife Gauri Khan after the argument, though there is no clear evidence he caused or participated in the feud.
From estrangement to friendship
The two stars remained estranged for years after the incident. Their relationship took a turn in July 2013, when they shared a public hug at politician Baba Siddique's Iftaar party. Salman's Koffee With Karan 9 appearance marks his debut on the chat show as its first guest for the new season, which premiered on October 14.
