The trailer of Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna's period action drama Ranabaali is expected to arrive on October 8, a week before the film hits theatres on October 16, according to industry buzz reported by Filmfare.
The buzz around the trailer launch has been building since the film's teaser dropped on September 9, presenting Deverakonda as Singanamala Bobbili Ranabaali — a Telugu warrior from Rayalaseema who rises against British rule. Mandanna plays Jayamma, his wife and partner in the struggle, while Hollywood actor Arnold Vosloo, known for The Mummy, plays the antagonist Sir Theodore Hector, an English officer.
Directed by Rahul Sankrityan of Shyam Singha Roy fame, the film is set during the Madras Famine of 1876–78, one of the darkest chapters of colonial rule. The titular character is modelled on the 19th-century Palegars of Rayalaseema — chieftains and rebel leaders such as Budda Vengal Reddy, Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy and Gadekal Bobbili Nagireddy, whose legends are still sung by folk singers in the region, the makers have said.
The teaser introduced a gritty world shaped by suffering and resistance, with Deverakonda's warrior embracing a "savage" identity as he takes on the colonial machinery. Posting the teaser, production house Mythri Movie Makers wrote: "They buried the story. They erased the name. They erased their sins. But they could never bury his RAGE."
The film marks Deverakonda and Mandanna's third collaboration after Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade, and their first on-screen pairing since their wedding in Udaipur on February 26. With music by Ajay-Atul, the pan-India period spectacle is being positioned as one of the biggest Dussehra releases.
If the October 8 trailer date holds, fans will get their first full look at the "Savage's Oath" just eight days before the film's worldwide release.
