The makers of Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana unveiled new character posters on Friday, revealing Lara Dutta as Queen Kaikeyi and Sheeba Chadha as Manthara, two pivotal figures whose actions set the stage for Lord Rama's exile.
The posters were shared on the film's official social media handles. Lara Dutta appears in a regal avatar as Kaikeyi, dressed in elaborate traditional attire and ornate jewellery befitting the Queen of Ayodhya. Sheeba Chadha's Manthara sports a distinct, weathered look, captured firmly gripping her walking staff.
The captions hint at the epic's turning point
The makers paired the reveals with dramatic captions. For Kaikeyi: "A queen. A mother. Two wishes that would betray a father's love and change Rama's destiny forever." For Manthara: "A cunning mind. Whose whispers would turn a mother's love into a kingdom's darkest hour."
In the epic, Kaikeyi's two demands of King Dashrath lead to Rama being sent into exile, while Manthara's counsel plays a key role in persuading the queen, setting the events of the story into motion.
The latest reveals follow the earlier unveiling of Arun Govil as King Dashrath. Govil, who famously played Lord Ram in the classic television series Ramayan, returns to the epic's world as the King of Ayodhya.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman.
