Rajya Sabha MP Vikramjit Singh Sahney has urged Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh to reschedule his Delhi concert planned for November 1, citing the anniversary of the 1984 anti-Sikh violence.
In a post on X addressed to Dosanjh and his team, Sahney asked that the show at Delhi's Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium be moved to another date to honour the memory of the victims of the 1984 violence. He described Dosanjh as Punjab's pride and India's voice to the world, while noting that for thousands of families, those days remain full of grief.
Opening night of the Aura Tour
The November 1 Delhi show is scheduled to open Dosanjh's Aura Tour, which will then travel to Indore, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Lucknow and Chandigarh. The tour is set to bring the scale of his international stadium performances to Indian audiences.
Security context
The appeal comes days after the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad received a bomb threat email on October 7 that referenced Dosanjh's concert there on November 21. The threat was part of a wider series of emails sent to 13 establishments across Ahmedabad, including schools and courts. Police later confirmed that all the threats were hoaxes, and a Cyber Cell team is investigating the source.
Dosanjh's concerts in Ahmedabad and Delhi remain scheduled as planned.
