Toronto Sixers, captained by Kieron Pollard, completed a memorable double in Canada Super 60 Season 2 on Tuesday, defeating the Vancouver Anchors by five wickets in the men's final at BC Place — chasing down 168 off the very last ball to add the men's crown to the women's title won earlier in the tournament.

The Vancouver Anchors, co-owned by former India pacer Zaheer Khan, posted 164/3 in their 10 overs after being asked to bat first. Obus Pienaar produced a stunning unbeaten 82 from just 21 balls, including two fours and 12 sixes, while captain Moeen Ali provided further impetus with 45 off 18 deliveries. After the early dismissals of Aneurin Donald (17 off 9) and Martin Andersson for a duck, Pienaar and Moeen combined for 21 boundaries to lift Vancouver to a run rate of 16.40.

Pooran's assault powers the chase

Toronto's reply was driven by Nicholas Pooran, who tore into the Anchors attack with 67 off 23 balls — two fours and nine sixes at a strike rate of 291.30 — keeping the Sixers ahead of the demanding required rate. Will Smeed added 16 from seven deliveries before skipper Pollard contributed a brisk 35 off 13 balls.

With the pressure mounting, Daniel Sams finished the job with an unbeaten 25 off nine balls, including three sixes, as Toronto crossed the line with the final delivery, finishing on 168/5 to seal the championship.

Pooran takes the honours

Pooran's impact extended beyond the final: he was named Player of the Tournament after finishing with 207 runs and two wickets during the competition.
