Netflix has announced 'Reporting Live', an investigative thriller led by Parineeti Chopra, set to stream from October 9, 2026.
The film casts Chopra as a field reporter who sets out after a promising lead and finds herself drawn into the dangerous world of illegal sand mining. Her investigation brings her up against a ruthless sand mafia determined to keep its criminal operations and the crimes surrounding them hidden. As she digs deeper, her pursuit of the story puts her in growing danger.
Director, writers and cast
'Reporting Live' is directed by Dhruv Tripathi, who co-wrote the script with Mihir Jadhav. It is produced by Partha Kiran Thakur and Joshua Shirsath. Alongside Chopra, the ensemble includes Deven Bhojani, Amol Palekar, Adil Hussain and Shekhar Suman, with Bhojani playing her seasoned cameraman and the two journalists facing the mafia together.
Seven years in the making
Tripathi said he had lived with the story for seven years, from writing it with Jadhav to bringing it to the screen, calling the announcement surreal. "I wanted to make a thriller that feels grounded and real, while never losing sight of the ordinary people at the heart of the story," he said. Producer Partha Kiran Thakur added that the project pairs actors from different generations, each a stalwart in their own craft, and said the on-screen pairing of Chopra and Bhojani was something audiences had not seen before, in characters unlike anything they have played.
Chopra's second Netflix outing this year
'Reporting Live' marks Netflix India's second partnership this year with Chopra, following the series 'Shaque: Trust No One', which marked her OTT debut. Netflix's promotional teaser for the film poses the question: "Is the risk bigger than the story?"
'Reporting Live' premieres on Netflix on October 9, 2026.
