OnePlus is set to unveil its next flagship, the OnePlus 16, at a launch event in China on Monday, October 12, with the phone positioned as a gaming-first device built around Qualcomm's newest silicon and a 200-megapixel primary camera.
The launch date was announced earlier by OnePlus China president Li Jie Louis at the company's 2026 OnePlus Gaming Conference, where several headline specifications were officially confirmed.
What OnePlus has confirmed
According to OnePlus's own teasers, the OnePlus 16 will run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset with a Matrix Cores GPU. The display will support a 165Hz system-wide refresh rate, rising to 185Hz in supported games, backed by what the company calls its "Windspeed Gaming Kernel" for more stable frame rates.
The camera system is headlined by a 200MP main sensor measuring 1/1.4 inch, paired with a 50MP ultra-wide camera and a 50MP Sony IMX882 telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. The company has also confirmed custom touch and Wi-Fi chips aimed at gaming performance, and an XPAN-style camera mode carried over from its Hasselblad collaboration.
What is still to be announced
OnePlus has not confirmed an India launch date or pricing. Reports point to a possible November debut in India, with third-party estimates placing the expected price between roughly Rs 64,999 and Rs 89,990, but these are unofficial figures. Battery capacity, final RAM and storage configurations and India availability are expected to be clarified at the unveiling.
One note of caution for buyers: OnePlus exited the US and European markets in July 2026, so the OnePlus 16 will not get an official release in those regions. In India, the company remains fully active, though some reports have suggested India could receive a OnePlus 16R instead of the standard model — something the company has not confirmed.
