The makers of 'OM Chapter 1: Udhiram – The Blood Wood', the pan-Indian action film headlined by Dhanush and Mammootty, announced on Friday that the film will release in theatres on November 20, 2026 — shifting it out of a crowded October window dominated by Rajinikanth's 'Jailer 2'.
The film was earlier slated for a worldwide theatrical release on October 16, 2026, a date that would have placed it just a day after 'Jailer 2', which releases on October 15. Dhanush also confirmed the film would stay clear of the Diwali window, where Suriya's 'Scene' has already announced its release. According to the makers, the decision was taken to respect other films' dates and avoid clashes between major releases.
First-time pairing
The film marks the first on-screen pairing of Dhanush and Mammootty. It is directed by Rajkumar Periasamy of 'Amaran' fame, with principal cast including Sai Pallavi, Sreeleela and Naseeruddin Shah, and Indrans in a key role.
The technical crew includes music by Sai Abhyankkar, cinematography by Ezhil Arasu K., editing by R Kalaivanan, art direction by A. Pannerselvam, and action choreography by Yannick Ben and Kecha Khamphakdee. The film is produced by Dhanush under his Wunderbar Films banner alongside Shraddha Agrawal and Azmat Jagmag, with RTake Studios also backing the project. A new poster featuring Dhanush and Mammootty was unveiled with the announcement.
