Mohun Bagan Super Giant came from behind to secure a 2-1 victory over Sporting Club Delhi in their Indian Super League (ISL) 2026-27 encounter at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on Friday.

Hosts strike first

SC Delhi, known as the Phoenixes, started the brighter of the two sides. After Juan Pena tested Bagan goalkeeper Vishal Kaith with a long-range effort in the fourth minute, the hosts took the lead in the 23rd minute, when Manoj Mohammad picked out Lalrinliana Hnamte, who finished with his left foot into the bottom-left corner to make it 1-0.

The Mariners responded through Lee Erwin, whose effort from outside the box went wide, while Rahul Bheke came close when he connected with Lallianzuala Chhangte's cross — only for SC Delhi goalkeeper Nora Fernandes to make the save. Both sides continued to threaten before the break, and the hosts went into half-time with their lead intact.

Two goals in four minutes

The Mariners came out with greater urgency after the restart and drew level in the 56th minute, when Bheke picked out Erwin inside the box and the forward calmly slotted home with his right foot into the bottom-left corner.

Bagan completed the turnaround just four minutes later. Set up by Lalengmawia Ralte, Miguel Figueira finished with his left foot into the bottom-left corner in the 60th minute to give the visitors a 2-1 lead.

SC Delhi pushed for a late equaliser — Rodriguinho sent an effort over the bar in the 72nd minute, and Hnamte blazed over in the 90+6th minute — but the Mariners held on through the closing stages to claim all three points, bouncing back from their opening-day defeat to NorthEast United.
