The marketing build-up for the big-screen adaptation of Mirzapur has officially begun, with Farhan Akhtar unveiling the first-look character posters of the film on social media.
First look revealed
The posters spotlight two of the franchise's most iconic characters — Guddu Bhaiya, played by Ali Fazal, and Kaleen Bhaiya, played by Pankaj Tripathi. The reveal marks the first official visual from the film version of the cult crime saga, which is being mounted in Hindi and Telugu.
According to reports, the film's teaser is scheduled to drop at 12 PM, setting up the full trailer campaign for one of the most closely watched Bollywood releases on the calendar.
From series to screen
Mirzapur began life as a streaming series and grew into one of India's biggest crime franchises, with Kaleen Bhaiya's empire and Guddu Pandit's revenge arc becoming part of pop culture. The decision to take the story to cinemas represents a significant bet that the franchise's fanbase will turn out in theatres.
The first-look drop is a fresh phase for the franchise on the film news front — distinct from the box-office milestones the movie has been racking up — and signals that the producers are leaning into character-driven marketing as the release window approaches.
Fans can expect the teaser to offer the first moving glimpse of how the series' gritty world translates to the big screen.
