Singapore: Max Verstappen won the Singapore Grand Prix for the first time in his career on Sunday, completing a perfect weekend in which he also won the sprint and took pole position for both races at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
A flawless Sunday
The Red Bull driver crossed the line in 1:42:00.785, finishing 7.335 seconds ahead of Ferrari's Charles Leclerc. Championship leader Kimi Antonelli took third for Mercedes, 24.573 seconds adrift, extending his advantage in the drivers' standings. The McLarens of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri were fourth and fifth, ahead of the second Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton, whose race was undone by a botched tyre strategy after he started third.
Verstappen had never won at Marina Bay — or even taken pole there — in nine previous attempts going back to his debut for Toro Rosso in 2015. He led from the start, defended against Leclerc into the first corner, and was untroubled at the front despite radio issues that forced the team to use the pit board for communication during the race.
Back-to-back wins, a landmark start
The victory was Verstappen's 73rd career win, achieved on his 250th Grand Prix start, and his second in succession after triumphing in Malaysia seven days earlier — his first wins of the 2026 season. "It has taken a while but I think this race was very good," the four-time world champion said. "We had pace when we needed to have it on the soft tyre and the medium."
Further back, Liam Lawson was seventh for Racing Bulls, Nico Hulkenberg eighth in the Audi, and George Russell ninth after starting from the back of the grid because of engine penalties. Isack Hadjar, who started from the pit lane, rounded out the points in tenth.
