Kangana Ranaut Calls CJP Protesters 'Anti-National Forces', Alleges Conspiracy to Destabilise India

Actor-turned-BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has described the protesters demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar as 'anti-national forces' and alleged a conspiracy to destabilise the country, in remarks that have added a political edge to the ongoing row over the Delhi demonstrations.

Speaking to reporters in Lucknow on October 10, before travelling to Ayodhya to offer prayers at the Ram temple, Ranaut criticised the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)-led protests at Jantar Mantar, which were called over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, including claims of wrongful voter deletions.

What she alleged

Ranaut claimed that anti-national elements, terrorist forces and international conspiracies had become a serious concern for the country, and alleged that various conspiracies were underway to bring the nation to a standstill and cause inconvenience to citizens. She said ordinary people were beginning to recognise and question those behind the agitation, and added that precautions should be taken to ensure citizens did not face inconvenience. She also invoked the blessings of Lord Ram and Hanuman, saying several forces were working to protect the country.

The remarks, reported by IANS, came amid mass detentions and tight security in Delhi during Saturday's planned demonstration, which police had not permitted.

The other side

The CJP has demanded greater transparency in the electoral roll revision process and the resignation of CEC Gyanesh Kumar, alleging irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision. Opposition leaders have backed the demand for transparency, while the Election Commission has defended the revision exercise. The allegations made by Ranaut about the protesters remain her claims and have not been substantiated by any official finding reported so far.

Ranaut, who represents Mandi in the Lok Sabha and joined the BJP in March 2024 after a film career including Queen, Tanu Weds Manu and Fashion, has frequently made sharp political statements. Earlier, she had criticised the language used by some participants in CJP-organised rallies in Delhi in July 2026.
