India's new-look T20I side begins its next chapter on Tuesday, when the first of five T20Is against the West Indies gets under way at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow at 7:00 PM IST.

The series is Shreyas Iyer's first assignment as full-time T20I captain, with Tilak Varma as his deputy. After the opener in Lucknow, the action moves to Ranchi (October 9), Indore (October 11), Hyderabad (October 14) and Bengaluru (October 17), with every match scheduled for a 7:00 PM IST start.

Asian Games core meets new faces

India's squad is built around the group that clinched the Asian Games gold in Japan, refreshed with emerging talent. Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma bring top-order firepower, while teen sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson offer further batting options. Arshdeep Singh leads the pace attack alongside Mayank Yadav and Prince Yadav, with Kuldeep Yadav, Ravi Bishnoi and Axar Patel handling spin duties. Washington Sundar was withdrawn from the squad and has been replaced by Naman Dhir.

The visitors, led by Shai Hope, return the nucleus of the ODI side, with the big-hitting Shimron Hetmyer rejoining the T20I setup. Jason Holder misses the series after being rested, and Amir Jangoo has been drafted in as injury cover for Jewel Andrew.

First home T20I series since 2022

It is the first time India have hosted the West Indies in a bilateral men's T20I series since February 2022, when India swept the three-match rubber 3-0. The sides come into the contest off a hard-fought ODI series that India won 2-1.

The matches will be telecast live on the Star Sports Network and streamed on JioHotstar.
