Google has officially confirmed the Fitbit Edge, its next fitness tracker, and set its launch for October 12, ending weeks of leaks and speculation.
The Google Health account posted a short teaser on X and Instagram on October 9, captioned "Get an Edge on your health. 10.12.26," alongside a close-up image showing the device's physical side button and a Canyon orange finish that matches the color scheme of the Pixel Watch 5 series.
A gap in the lineup
The Fitbit Edge is the first traditional band-style Fitbit refresh since the Charge 6 launched in 2023. It is expected to sit between the screenless, budget-focused Fitbit Air and the flagship Pixel Watch 5, giving Google a mid-range option for buyers who want a real display and serious health sensors without a smartwatch price.
What the leaks suggest
According to leaks reported by Android Headlines, Dealabs and others, the tracker is expected to feature a 1.34-inch AMOLED screen with always-on display support, up to seven days of battery life (dropping to about two days with the always-on display enabled), 40 built-in exercise modes, Bluetooth 5.4 and built-in GPS.
Health tracking is expected to include heart rate, sleep, skin temperature and menstrual cycle tracking, along with atrial fibrillation detection, irregular heart rhythm alerts, cardiac load and VO2 max measurement. Gemini-powered personalized coaching is also rumored. The device is said to weigh just 17.7 grams, carry 5ATM and IP68 ratings, and cost around €179 in Europe and about $180 in the US, though Google has confirmed neither pricing nor launch markets.
