Google has released Gemini 4 Argon, its flagship AI model, to developers and businesses worldwide on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 — a launch pitched at "deep work" on complex, multi-step tasks across coding, finance, law, cybersecurity and science.

The release is Google's bid to regain ground against rivals OpenAI and Anthropic after months of delays and a leadership shakeup at its DeepMind lab. In September, the company scrapped plans to release Gemini 3.5 Pro — which CEO Sundar Pichai had said would ship in June — and overhauled DeepMind after co-founder and CEO Demis Hassabis stepped aside and several Gemini model leaders left.

Pricing and access

Introductory API pricing is $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, with cached input tokens at 95% off — but rates double to $4 per million input and $20 per million output after November 30, 2026.

The model is available to paying customers through the Gemini API and AI Studio, Antigravity (Ultra subscribers), and the Gemini app and AI Mode in Search (Pro and Ultra subscribers). It is not on the free tier.

Early results

Google says teams using Argon inside Antigravity increased agentic code submissions by more than 35% while reducing code rollbacks by nearly a third. Early testing customers include Deloitte, LexisNexis, Ambience Healthcare and Isomorphic Labs.

Google is also opening its Fairwind Program — a version of Argon without cyber guardrails for vetted cybersecurity defenders — to hundreds of additional partners, and will offer 10,000 scientists six months of free access to Antigravity's highest usage tier.
