The Goa government's Department of Information Technology, Electronics and Communications has announced the first-ever Goa AI Tech Conclave, to be held on October 22 and 23. The two-day summit will serve as the launchpad for the Goa Artificial Intelligence Policy 2026.
The announcement was made in Panaji on October 10 as part of the state's push to position itself as a destination for responsible AI and technology innovation.
Policy centrepiece
The official unveiling of the Goa AI Policy 2026 will be the centrepiece of the conclave. The policy lays out a three-year framework for 2026 to 2029, built on five strategic pillars covering AI adoption across governance, industry, skilling and citizen services.
It also introduces a four-tier, risk-based approach to AI governance, under which safeguards scale with the potential impact of each application. A dedicated institutional structure is planned to steer implementation, ethics oversight and industry partnerships. IT Minister Rohan Khaunte said the summit showed Goa was creating a distinct identity on the national stage, pointing to the state's policies and its push to bring together talent, investment and innovation.
Hackathon, MoUs and expo
A key highlight will be the Goa AI Hackathon, built around problem statements sourced directly from various government departments. Teams of innovators, startups and students will present AI-based solutions to real administrative and public-service challenges, with promising entries positioned for real-world application in government.
The state will also sign memoranda of understanding with AI-focused companies and partners during the conclave, including agreements for an AI Centre of Excellence and AI labs aimed at strengthening research, skilling and investment.
Over the two days, four parallel tracks will cater to tech enthusiasts, startups, AI professionals and students. An interactive AI Expo will feature over 30 exhibitors with product demonstrations and a 3D AI experience, alongside startup pitching sessions. The event will also unveil a Diaspora Help Desk, a single-window portal to help global Goans mentor local talent, hire, invest and set up tech ventures in the state. The conclave is being held under the broader Goa AI Mission 2027.
