Fujitsu said on Tuesday it will open a trial environment for four artificial intelligence agents built for the retail industry, beginning phased demonstration projects with seven retail companies under its Uvance for Retail programme.
What the trial covers
The four agents are designed around everyday retail work: analysing sales structures, studying customer loyalty, planning merchandise sales, and supporting store managers in daily operations. Fujitsu said the trial will also include an execution platform that lets retailers put the agents to work inside their own systems.
The company announced the plan from Kawasaki on October 6, framing the agents as tools to advance store operations and sharper business decision-making for retailers wrestling with thin margins and shifting shopper habits.
The road to launch
The demonstrations with the seven retail companies will run in phases, with the full commercial launch of the agents and the platform scheduled for June 2027. Before that, Fujitsu will show the technology at the Asia-Pacific Retailers Convention and Exhibition in Tokyo, running October 7 to 10, including the Retail Expo Tokyo segment on October 8 and 9.
The move puts Fujitsu among the growing set of technology firms racing to package AI agents for specific industries rather than selling general-purpose tools, betting that retailers will pay for assistants tuned to their own workflows.
