Indian HR-technology company Darwinbox on Monday said it has been ranked among the top two human capital management (HCM) vendors globally for applied artificial intelligence in the 2026 Gartner Critical Capabilities for HCM Suites for 1,000+ Employee Enterprises report.
The Hyderabad-headquartered company said the recognition follows the launch of Darwinbox Cortex, its AI-native HCM platform that the firm describes as rebuilt from the ground up with AI at its foundation rather than layered on top of older software. The platform moved beyond simply recording work, the company said, to understanding and anticipating it.
What Cortex claims to do
According to Darwinbox, Cortex launched with global design partners including Visteon Corporation, a Fortune 1000 enterprise, and Transcarent, alongside technology partners Microsoft, Slack and Glean. The company said Gartner recognised the breadth of AI innovation across the platform, including more than 60 pre-built agentic and generative AI use cases, support for the Model Context Protocol (MCP) and Agent2Agent (A2A) interoperability standards, and a no-code Agent Builder for creating AI agents.
At the core of the platform is what Darwinbox calls its HCM Context Graph, which the company says gives its AI agents a foundation of understanding about each organisation — its people, roles, skills, policies, workflows and permissions — so they can act across the employee lifecycle.
Co-founder and co-CEO Chaitanya Peddi said the ranking validated the company's direction with Cortex, adding that the next phase of AI in HR would be defined not by access to models alone but by how deeply AI understands each organisation and reliably converts that understanding into action.
The company said it believes the future of HCM is a system that does not merely record how an organisation works, but understands it and helps move work forward.
