Chhattisgarh has secured foreign investment proposals worth Rs 43,250 crore at the inaugural SING Forum 2026 in Singapore, the state government announced on Monday, headlined by a Rs 41,750 crore proposal from Singapore-based Energy Capital Global Pte Ltd to build a 100 MW hyperscale data centre in the state.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai handed an 'Investment Invitation Letter' to Energy Capital Global during the visit and invited Singapore-based investors to look at opportunities across the state, according to a release cited by the Indian Economic Observer.
A tech pivot for a mineral-rich state
The proposed hyperscale data centre, according to the release, is expected to support Chhattisgarh's push beyond traditional industries into digital infrastructure and emerging technologies. The state government said the investment could strengthen its digital ecosystem and draw more technology companies to the region.
The SING (Singapore-India Network for Growth) Forum is a business platform aimed at strengthening economic ties between Singapore and India, bringing together policymakers, industry experts and companies across technology, infrastructure, advanced manufacturing and digital services.
"When a global company places such a large bet on Chhattisgarh, it is a powerful statement of trust in our policies, our potential and our people," the Chief Minister said, according to the release, adding that more global partners would follow.
What this means
Chhattisgarh has traditionally been known for minerals and heavy industry. A data centre proposal of this scale — if it converts — would mark a significant diversification of the state's investment profile, at a time when India is seeing a nationwide race to add data centre capacity driven by AI and cloud demand.
