Breaking: Pakistan Test-Fires Extended-Range Fatah-2 Hypersonic Ballistic Missile

The Pakistan Army on Tuesday successfully test-launched the extended-range version of the Fatah-2 hypersonic ballistic missile, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced.

According to the ISPR, the weapon system is equipped with advanced navigation and state-of-the-art avionics. The military said it is capable of engaging targets with high precision and defeating enemy missile defence systems "due to its unique trajectory and manoeuvrability features."

Deep-target capability

The ISPR said the extended range would further enhance the Pakistan Army's "reach and capability of engaging deep targets." The military disclosed no exact range or further technical specifications.

The test was witnessed by the Commander of the Army Rocket Force Command, senior Pakistan Army officers, and scientists and engineers of the programme; the command's chief praised their technical prowess, per Gulf News. President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir congratulated the team, the ISPR said.

Second test in a week

The launch comes days after Pakistan tested an extended version of the indigenously developed Fatah-4 ground-launched cruise missile, reported last week. Arab News noted that the Army Rocket Force Command was announced in August 2025 to coordinate conventional missile warfare, with nuclear-capable systems remaining under the separate National Strategic Command.

All capability claims in this report are those made by the Pakistani military in its official announcement.
