Indian kurash player Yash Kumar Chauhan has tested positive for multiple banned substances in a dope sample taken during competition at the Asian Games and has been provisionally suspended with immediate effect, the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) announced on Saturday.

The International Testing Agency (ITA), acting on behalf of the OCA, reported that a sample collected from the 24-year-old during competition on September 27 had returned an Adverse Analytical Finding for the non-specified prohibited substances Metandienone metabolites, GW1516 metabolites, and Mephentermine and its metabolite.

**What the substances are**

According to the OCA statement, Metandienone is listed under the WADA Prohibited List as an S1.1 anabolic androgenic steroid — banned at all times, in and out of competition. It is described as a potent anabolic steroid that increases testosterone levels, driving muscle-mass growth, endurance and strength.

The provisional suspension takes effect immediately, meaning Chauhan cannot take part in any further competition until the matter is resolved.

The finding marks a serious anti-doping case for India's Asian Games contingent on Day 14 of the Games in Aichi-Nagoya, where India had earlier picked up a kurash bronze through Pincky Balhara. The OCA statement is the first official word on the case, and further details are expected as the anti-doping process proceeds.
