Several schools in Delhi received bomb-threat emails on Thursday morning, prompting Delhi Police and the bomb disposal squad to rush to the campuses and carry out searches, officials said. No suspicious objects have been found so far, and an investigation into the source of the emails is underway.
The emails arrived in the morning hours of October 15, setting off a security response across the city. Police teams reached the schools quickly and conducted thorough checks of the premises with the help of the bomb disposal squad.
Searches find nothing suspicious
Officials said the searches covered the school buildings and grounds in detail. According to the latest update from police, nothing suspicious has been found so far, though security teams continued their checks through the morning. The investigation into who sent the emails is underway, and no sender has been identified.
Second scare in three days
The incident comes just two days after a similar scare in northwest Delhi's Rohini, where two schools received bomb threats on October 12. The Delhi Fire Service confirmed it had received calls about threats to Venkateshwar Global School and Mount Abu Public School, and search operations there also found nothing suspicious.
Authorities have not named the schools that received Thursday's emails. Police said parents and school managements were kept informed as the searches proceeded.
