The Ayushmann Khurrana–Sara Ali Khan spy comedy Udta Teer will now release in cinemas on October 23 instead of October 9, the makers announced on Friday, citing a crowded release calendar and the arrival of Ajay Devgn's Drishyam 3.
A cleaner release window
The makers confirmed the new date through an official statement and a fresh poster on October 2. The official reason given was "giving it a cleaner release window and a stronger theatrical runway instead of compromising on screens in a suddenly crowded marketplace," according to Times Now.
The shift follows the October 2 theatrical release of Drishyam 3, which the Udta Teer team is steering clear of.
What the film is about
Directed by Akash A Kaushik, the film centres on a Pakistani spy who loses his memory — Times Now names the character Bilal Ahmed, who remembers patriotism but forgets his nationality.
The ensemble cast includes Rahul Bose, Supriya Pilgaonkar, Brijendra Kala, Ram Kapoor, Suhail Nayyar and Gulshan Grover, and the film marks the final screen appearance of late actor Mukul Dev.
