Emraan Hashmi's action thriller Awarapan 2 has begun streaming on Amazon Prime Video for regular subscribers from October 9, following a successful run in cinemas. The sequel, which first arrived in theatres on August 14, 2026, had earlier been available on the platform only on a rental basis from September 25.
The film sees Hashmi return as Shivam, the brooding character he first played in the 2007 cult original, this time in a story that picks up years after the events of the first film. Directed by Nitin Kakkar, the sequel also stars Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi in key roles, and was positioned as one of the notable theatrical successes of the second half of 2026.
From Theatres to Homes
Prime Video is the film's official streaming partner, and the digital premiere gives the sequel a second life for viewers who missed its big-screen run. The transition to free streaming for standard members comes roughly eight weeks after its theatrical opening, a window that has become standard for major Hindi releases this year.
A Franchise Revival That Worked
Awarapan 2 matters for Hashmi's career beyond its box office numbers. The film brought the actor back to the darker, emotionally charged territory he built his reputation on, and its music and nostalgic ties to the original kept fans talking long after opening weekend. Its performance has also fed into the actor's broader pipeline, with distributors circling his upcoming projects.
The streaming release is expected to widen the film's audience further, particularly among younger viewers discovering Shivam's story for the first time.
