After a record-setting run in Hindi, Hanuman Ansh is heading to Telugu audiences — the film will release in Telugu on October 9, with Hombale Films, the studio behind Kantara and KGF, handling the release.
The announcement came with the unveiling of a new Telugu trailer on October 5. The trailer traces Baba Neem Karoli's journey to becoming a sadhu, including the widely discussed incident in which British authorities threw him off a train, along with scenes of him guiding his devotees. The trailer has drawn a positive response on social media, according to BusinessToday.
A ₹2 crore film's extraordinary run
Directed by Vishal Chaturvedi, the film was made on a limited ₹2 crore budget and has collected ₹424.24 crore worldwide, per BusinessToday. The publication's lede describes the film as having crossed ₹400 crore at the Hindi box office alone. It was still earning strongly after 60 days in theatres — ₹3 crore on Sunday, October 4 alone.
The story follows Lakshmi Narayan, an ordinary young man who embraces renunciation after his mother's death and becomes known worldwide as Neem Karoli Baba. Shobhinav Satya plays the lead, with the cast including Chandan Ke Anand, Poornima Tiwari, Anil Rastogi, Gulshan Pandey, and Bhagwandas Patel.
Hombale Films has already been managing the film's overseas distribution, making the Telugu release a natural extension of the campaign.
