The makers of 3 Monkeys, the upcoming action thriller starring Arjun Rampal and Vishal Jethwa and directed by filmmaker duo Abbas-Mustan, have announced that the film will release in theatres worldwide on December 4, 2026. The release date was revealed along with the film's motion poster on Gandhi Jayanti, October 2.
The announcement offers the first proper glimpse of the project. The film revolves around three masked characters — Amar, Akbar and Anthony — played by Vishal Jethwa, Mustafa Burmawala and Tenzin Dalha respectively, while Arjun Rampal plays a character named Sanjay.
What the motion poster shows
The first motion poster opens with the familiar image of the Three Wise Monkeys, followed by a newspaper clipping titled 'Local Times' carrying the same imagery. It then introduces the three central characters, seen wearing masks and carrying guns, while Rampal's Sanjay is introduced separately towards the end. Sharing the poster, the makers wrote: "See no evil. Hear no evil. Speak no evil. They chose otherwise. Meet the new-age Three Monkeys. They don't play by the rules. They rewrite them. The game begins this Gandhi Jayanti."
Plot details remain under wraps.
The team
The film is directed by Abbas-Mustan and produced by Allarakha Vohra, Faruk Vohra and Sayeed Vohra under the banner of AV Picture Production LLP. Ravi Yadav has handled the cinematography, while Hussain A Burmawala has done the editing.
A crowded December date
3 Monkeys will arrive in a competitive window — it is set to clash at the box office with Shraddha Kapoor's biographical drama Eetha and Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan's untitled comedy film, both also dated for December.
On the work front, Rampal was last seen in Diljit Dosanjh's Panjab 95, which premiered on ZEE5 in India on July 3, 2026, and in Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar films, where he played Major Iqbal. He also has Operation Ganga, directed by Vishnu Mohan and starring Mohanlal, in his pipeline.
