Applications for more than 1.1 million tickets were submitted during the opening weekend of ballot registrations for the Men's Cricket World Cup 2027, organisers said on Tuesday, underlining the tournament's pull more than a year before it begins.

The numbers

More than 320,000 fans registered for the ticket ballot, which remains open until November 21. The India-Pakistan match generated the strongest demand, attracting more than 110,000 ticket applications. South Africa's game against India received more than 92,000 applications, while more than 86,000 were submitted for the India versus Australia fixture.

"One million ticket applications in just over 48 hours of opening the ticket ballot is a demonstration of the attention, stature and affiliation for ICC Cricket World Cup 2027," ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta said.

The tournament

The 14-team tournament will be co-hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia from October 2 to November 21, 2027. The three southern African nations will share venues across the subcontinent-spanning event, marking one of the largest cricket tournaments ever staged on the continent.

India's fixtures in hot demand

The figures show India's matches dominating fan interest: three of the four most-requested fixtures involve the Indian team, with the marquee clash against Pakistan leading the way. Demand for the ballot suggests stadiums across the host nations will see packed crowds when the tournament gets underway next October.
