Qualcomm Incorporated has renewed its global patent license agreement with Apple, the chipmaker announced on September 24, 2026, with the renewed agreement set to take effect on April 1, 2027.

The renewal extends the long-running licensing relationship between the two companies, under which Apple licenses Qualcomm's patent portfolio for its devices. The announcement was made via PR Newswire.

What the companies said

John Han, Qualcomm's executive vice president and general manager of Qualcomm Technology Licensing, said the company was pleased to extend the agreement with Apple.

The renewal arrives at a time when Qualcomm's chips and licensing business continue to anchor the company's results, and when Apple is expanding its own hardware ambitions, including its first foldable iPhone.

Market reaction muted

On October 4, 2026, Qualcomm's stock stood at EUR 164.29 in weekend trading at Lang & Schwarz at 5:06 p.m. CEST, unchanged from the EUR 164.29 close on October 2, 2026.

The next Xetra session is scheduled for October 5, 2026.

Qualcomm's licensing arm remains one of the most profitable parts of the company, and a renewed agreement with its largest licensing customer removes a layer of uncertainty for investors heading into 2027.
