Actor Nushrratt Bharuccha will undergo spine surgery in Mumbai after suffering a fracture in her spine in an accident in Bali, her publicist confirmed in an official statement on Friday.
Bharuccha had travelled to the Indonesian island for a work-cum-holiday trip. She is currently hospitalised in Bali and remains under medical observation, and arrangements are being made to bring her back to Mumbai via an air ambulance, where the surgery will take place.
"At present, our immediate priority is her health and ensuring she receives the necessary medical care," the statement said, adding that her work commitments over the coming weeks are likely to be affected given the nature of the injury and the surgery.
The statement requested privacy for the actor as she focuses on her treatment and recovery. The cause of the accident has not been disclosed. A week before the incident, Bharuccha had shared photographs from her Bali trip on social media.
