Astra Studios, backed by India's leading production house Hombale Group, and VerSe Innovation have joined forces to launch what they describe as an AI-native model for film and content production, announcing the partnership at the MIPCOM market in Cannes on Tuesday.
The two companies formed the Astra-Spark Alliance, which will build and market an AI-driven production architecture based on SparkStation, VerSe's AI content operating system. According to the companies, the system links the entire production process — from scripting and storyboarding through casting, locations, costumes, music, dialogue, editing and final rendering — into a single continuous pipeline.
Tackling the continuity problem
The alliance's central claim is that it addresses the biggest obstacle keeping AI out of professional film production: continuity. While AI can already generate compelling individual images, it has struggled to keep faces, wardrobe, locations and performances consistent across shots and sequences — the continuity a filmmaker's vision depends on.
The companies say their system locks these elements across an entire production and routes each creative task to the most suitable AI model. They also claim production costs could fall by up to 75 percent and timelines shrink from months to weeks — figures presented in the announcement as company projections, not independently verified results.

The announcement also marked the launch of AstraLabs, Astra Studios' new technology arm for creative workflows. VerSe, which describes itself as India's largest local-language technology platform and the parent company of Dailyhunt, Josh and Magzter, brings its AI platform experience to the partnership.
Quoting the alliance's founders, the companies positioned the move as an attempt to keep artists and production teams directing every stage of the process while using AI to expand what can be produced. The partnership is aimed at studios, streamers, broadcasters and brands, with Astra's own visual-effects and animation slate serving as the first proving ground.
